Sustainable is not something we do; it's in our DNA!

 

Herança Magna is a space dedicated to the provision of catering services and events directed to the areas of tourism and corporate. We are committed to developing our activity in the environmental, social and cultural legacy areas in a responsible manner, aiming to contribute to long-term sustainable development and, at the same time, maintaining customer satisfaction, offering a good experience at the right price.

We are, therefore, committed to operate in a way to reduce environmental impact through the integration of importance conservationist practices and sustainability principles in our business and commercial practices, in order to contribute to a social and ecologically sustainable society and ensure the protection of current and future generations.

With the collaboration of our suppliers, business partners, employees, the local community and our customers, we will actively work towards these goals.

 

WITHOUT COMMITTING THE QUALITY, THE COMFORT AND EXPERIENCE OF OUR CLIENTS, HERANÇA MAGNA IMPLEMENTED PRACTICES AND EFFORTS TO MINIMIZE THE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT:

 STRUCTURAL: 

  • The space, Herança Magna, was rebuilt and remodeled respecting all the history and the building surroundings, an old port wine cellar.

 ENERGY EFFICIENCY: 

  • Low consumption LED lamps.
  • Air conditioning set to a temperature of 23 ° C, acceptable comfort temperature.
  • Turn off lights in service areas where lighting is unnecessary during the day.
  • Turn off computers and screens at night and when not in use.

PAPER: 

  • Reusing paper to print unofficial documents - two sides.
  • Do not print emails unless absolutely necessary.
  • Communication with client, fully digital documentation and billing.

 WATER: 

  • Monitoring of water consumption.
  • Low consumption toilets. Reduced water flow and timed in bathrooms and showers.

WASTE and RECYCLING: 

  • All residues are separated on the spot - by paper, organic, glass, plastic and general.
  • Compliance with the rules for the collection and recycling of used oils.
  • Filtration station for all kitchen wastewater with the retention and collection of waste oils and fats, and subsequent collection and destruction by a certified company.

 FOOD and SUPPLIERS: 

  • We respect all the standards of the food industry, HACCP, with the supervision of a certified company including the principles of food storage. We strictly respect the 4 C’s about food safety, Cleaning, Cooking, Chilling and Cross-contamination.
  • Whenever possible, we integrate regionally produced and traditional products including fruits, vegetables, fish, meat and wines, which in turn offers our customers a unique opportunity to experience a greater connection with our region.

 CLEANING and HYGIENIZATION: 

  • We have the Contingency Plan and the Cleaning and Sanitation Plan prepared and reinforced in order to ensure compliance with the rules and guidelines, with a view to the safety of our Customers and Employees.
  • Reduction of products with chlorine bleach and choosing products that are less aggressive to the environment and biodegradable.

 COMMUNITY INITIATIVES: 

  • Herança Magna promotes and supports the local community by hiring folk groups, singers, musicians, etc., contributing to the sustainability of typical activities such as regional folk dances and Fado.
  • The craft store in the space, only traditional products from the region are sold with the purchase from local and regional producers who use traditional methods in their production.
  • Several partnerships implemented with local associations, sports and cultural, with the sponsorship and use of our space on a “pro bono” basis for the realization of its annual galas.
